The Legend of Sumgai...
For those who have followed the vintage pen market know of this legend...but I have yet to hear it here and after a direct problem with him today, I thought I would share.
There is a legend of a man who travels the world seeking straight razors. Unlike the normal human, he has a pre-cognizance of where straight razors are located and goes to great lengths to get them....this legendary person's name is Sumgai.
This weekend, I was on vacation and brought along a wad of dough since I know there are a ton of antique stores in the area where we will be vacationing. In the first store, I ask the gent in charge if he's seen any straight razors in the store. His reply, "We has about a dozen in last week, but then Sumgai came in a bought them all." This happened to every store the whole weekend....
Darn you Sumgai.

Ha! I love it. I hate you, Sumgai! I can absolutely attest that Sumgai has made it through the antique circuit in Minnesota as well, several times. He was positively or vaguely identified by several antique store dealers I've talked with on more than one occasion.
He is my nemesis. Game on, Sumgai.
