    Default Tamahagane... knife. Really? (off)

Sorry for the knife topic. I believe you can shave with it if you want, but you better not )

I bought this knife today. They say it is Tamahagane steel. 4 3/4 in, ~120 mm long. It was not expensive, around $100. (welcome to Moscow )) ) That's actually what made me think that it is not tamahagane. What do you think?

The one thing you can be dead sure of is it's not what it says.

That's exactly what I thought. Most likely this knife is fake. However I shaved hairs on my hand with it. Easily.
If it does contains tamahagane steel, not more that 0,45%
Seriously, I believe “fakes” problem exists with knifes and with razors also. How we can be sure that all old razors we have, are genuine and were not faked at some point of time?

Unless it specificly says tamahagane steel , the word tamahagane means nothing , and most likely means tamahagane style , and not necessarly tamahagane steel .

Actually there was a thread on fake dovos where someone found one stamped SLRMANY. Shaves really well apparently. Some fakes are actually good things using a better name to get sold.
