Thanked: 6Pond Works
Just bought another... I can't help myself. They're just so cheap and I find them wherever go.
This one was so clean I had to buy it. Not a single spot of rust.
Can any of you help me with some info on it please?
Cheers
Scott

Very nice. Looks like it's going to be a great razor. Sorry I can't help with any info. But if it will hone and shave good then heck ya.

You are helping yourself by buying one more. The only way to cure RAD is to buy more razors. She's a beauty, and, by the rep of Pond Works, should be a first class shaver. I only have one of the Marsh, Shepherd & Pond razors; none of the Pond Works.

Thanked: 151Thats a newer Marshe brothers. Marshes adn Shepherd Pond Works went out of business in 1852 and I have one that I sold in the database. I am not sure of the dates on the Roxo, but as I understand they are great shavers and both the Marshes and Shepherds I have had shaved really well.

Thanked: 22Since it's marked Sheffield, England you can reasonbly date it 1890 or later. I've no experience with that particular make, but if it shaves as nice as it looks you've got yourself a winner.
Nice Score

Nice razor. Here in razor clubs forums there is a Marshe bros/pond works thread. Also if you click on manah's web page should you run across it I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have some more info.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It still amazes me, and i know it really shouldn't, that you can wander all around Sheffield these days and see hardly any sign of its great past in not only the steel industry as a whole but in our shared interest with straight razors.

I bought a razor just like that one off the 'bay a few weeks back, but not nearly in that nice of a condition. Mine has some staining and is in need of some new scales, but it looks like she'll clean up very nicely with an expert hand (certainly not mine!). I'm looking forward to getting her cleaned up and in my shaving rotation.
BTW, thanks for the Marsh Bros/Pond Works link, Jimmy.
Cheers,
Larry
