    If those scales were in fact, "Silver" wouldn't they show some tarnish, look at the blade.....? Beautiful work though....

    Understood, and no offense taken. I was actually referring to what the current price may be for a simular set of scales as in the OP.
    You quoted current spot price, so I was bringing the whole process into current pricing.
    The scales in the origional post are unique enough that I seriously doubt they were made by the hundreds. It was probably a one off or small set of castings. Either way you are still dealing with hand work, not a mass production. If a set of scales where to be mass produced in that time period, then they would have been more than likely made of a tin alloy.

    Most definately. However, I'm sure that the owner used some silver polish on them before they took the shots. It's a lot easier to clean silver than it is to clean a steel blade.

    Well the scales are repousse.

    Think I will go for them...They do look great.
    Was silver razors more expensive than ivory to? Back in the good old days?

    Ivory was probably about the same as silver at that time (mid 1800's).
    If not a bit cheaper due to the relative ease of getting ivory.

    I will. Right now I am seeking for one who can help me with restoring the razor....I am NOOOOOOO good at it.....But, I am getting these razor.

    Am thinking it will shine nice in the bathroom.....
