With everyone's suggestions I started looking around. I never realized there were so many brands of diposable SR's out there. Besides the Dovo Shavette and the Feather I found the Hess Ezy Shave and Monsieur Charles and I'd forgotten that Philly makes a disposable. There's others also but IMHO they're too cheaply made to mention. I really like the looks of the Feather Artist's Club but they cost more that a Dovo First Quality straight.

I have used a Sizor and Dovo shavette and neither one does as good of a job as the Feather Artist RG that I sometimes use on customers. It's not the razor, it's the blades. I just dont think that the Dovo blades are as good or as sharp as the Artist RG blades.

I like and use a regular str8 razor (mostly Dovo) on probably 95% of my customers, it's just their preference and mine as well. But given the choice between using a shavette or a feather, I would pick the feather any day over the shavette. The feather will give me a result closest to (and sometimes equal to) using a str8.

Of all the shavettes I've tried I like the Solingen Rockwell the most. I find most of them to be too light. The Rockwell has some weight to it and paired with the appropriate blade can work great. After extensive research I found the Derby Professional to work the best for me while the Feathers to be to aggressive.

I used a Shavette before I used real straights, and I'd have to advise against it. It's a *very* different beast, and if you've already been hooked on straights to the point of having a collection I doubt you'd be happy with it. Travelling with a strop ain't so bad. You can even get that pretty T-I travel paddle strop.

I have three disposable straights and that is what I bring with me when I travel. The nice one - Feather stays home. The cheaper ones get to travel and one of them is the Shavette.

Less to carry, and less to worry about.
