Default Traveling with your razors, strops & brushes

I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured the razor section would be my best bet. My wife and myself just did some traveling and I was so very carefull about how and where my shaving equipment was. Before we left I used rubber bands around my razors to insure they didn't accidentally get opened and damaged. I probably need to get a travel pouch designed for this.

As far as my strop, I was thinking about getting a piece of 2x4 pine wood and cut it as long as the strop is wide. Then, use a 3/4" round over bit on my router table to round over both the top and bottom edge on one side of it. In other words, one side of the piece of wood would have a 3/4" radius on it. The idea is to put the rounded edge center way of the strop on the leather side, fold it in half & put a rubber band around it. This way, I can put it in the bottom of my duffle bag and not have to worry about it getting damaged. I always try to travel as light as possible and try not to bring a suit case unless absolutely necessary.

For the brush, I was thinking about making a small wooden box to keep it in by taking two pieces of wood and cut out the shape of the brush, half the width of the brush in each piece, then sandwich them together and put some little clasps or hinge it together. I can't say I've seen anything to store your brush in while traveling. If anyone has any ideas, I'm completely open for suggestions or guidence on where to purchase something or whatever else.

    Thanks and bunch!

Well, you really might want to search the site for travel or travel(l)ing.

Because I am spiteful and evil, I left this one open for the community to fill in: Travelling with a straight razor - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Shame on you guys, it's been like that for months!

In a nutshell, I use a leather cigar case for two razors, a Thäter travel brush, and my Old Traditional strop.

You can use toothbrush holders to keep your razors safe when travelling. I have all the boxes that they originally came in when I take mine abroad, and this works well for me.

All I do with my brush is wrap some kitchen paper round it and stow it midway in the bag so it doesnt get bashed around. I also stow my strop halfway through the bag. This has worked just fine for me.

If you travel a lot it may be worth getting a paddle strop? A box for the brush is also a good idea!

When I do go on business I tend to take my DE and a can of goo, just because I'm usually in such a rush I dont have time for anything else.

When I go on holiday, I take the whole load with me and I just make sure I pack as much as I can in the middle of the bag and dont put anything where it could get bashed.
