Default Solid brass Vs Stainless steel

I just purchased and recived this razor from feather:
    The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor

Its absolutely gorgous, firm grip, quite heavy and balanced in an unusual but very nice way. The bladeholder holds the blade really tight, the wood handle is beautifull and feels good in my hand. And the blades are feather - enough said. This razor is a piece of art in my opinion. I bought it primarely to have a razor to take with me when I travel, and I wanted something that was good quality - I am not disappointed.

I did however consider to buy this razor:
    The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor

They look almost alike, expect for some writing on the later in the space between blade an scales. But the later one (for 250 $) is stainless steel, and the one I got (150 $) is solid brass.

To be honest I dont know that much about metal, can anyone tell me the difference, that being the pros and cons, especially when held up against this particular product?

I am thinking that the brass may be more subseptable to rust?

There must big some difference between the metals, considering the 100 $ extra for stainless steel.

brass will loose the coating and may become discolored

    Brass does not rust!
Might corrode and get green but not rust.
    Most plumbing fixtures are brass.

Brass is common on salt water boats because it
suffers water even salt water much better than steel.

Stainless is much more difficult to machine and shape.

Brass doesn't rust though it does tarnish. It probably has a coating on it to protect it from tarnishing but I don't know for sure as I've never owned a Feather straight. I hear that they are very sharp and require a bit of a different technique so proceed with caution.

If that is the case there is no problem.

I would go with the stainless. It easier to care for. Any plate will eventually wear off.

The stainless version shaves better because it's lighter - with those blades momentum is not your friend. It also seems to be a bit thinner.

Interesting. I really like that the brass is so heavy, and how the weight is differently balanced from a typi cal straight. Most of the weight is in the 2/3 of the blade away from the scales.
