Thanked: 0Wade & Butcher
I purchased a Wade & Butcher Razor today at my favorite 2nd hand store. I'm beginning to believe that the razor has never been used. The blade is in exceptional condition, but even more curious is the handle. It appears to have a light coating of wax all over it. Would I be correct in my discovery? Would a factory coat the handle for protection purposes till the purchaser took over use of the razor. There's nothing exceptional about the handles. They're black in color, appear to be plastic or maybe celluloid. I scratched a small area of the wax substance off and the spot shoned brightly then on the handle. It otherwise has a slight bland waxy look to it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bull

I've never heard of it, but it is possible. Or maybe a previous owner did it for protection. There are soooo many unknowns that we can only speculate about.

Holli4pirating, Thanks for the response. Straight razors are new to me , so any info helps. It's a sideline to my pocket knife collecting. Bull

Welcome to SRP Bull. Now that you have the W&B think about having it honed professionally and put the cartridge razor away forever.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
