Thanked: 1A Razor With Picture of Women on The Handle
I saw an interesting razor, that had vintage pics of women on the handle, I *think* it was a "shur edge?"
Any thought or ideas on this, I will try to get a pic soon.

Are you asking about the handle (scales) or the razor itself?
The manufacturer or "Shur Edge" was Robeson and they were a great US manufacturer. If the blade is in good condition then it would make a great shaver.
I'm not too familiar with the scales containing photos. There are older scales made from celluloid that were impressed with images -- ones with nude women usually fetch a good price on eBay (go figure!).

First of all - You can't judge a razor by what is on the scales (handles). But, if the razor you are looking at is a Robeson, you can be sure it was a quality razor when it was manufactured. If the blade is in good condition it should make you a good shaver. I have five Robesons and they are all good. If you would like to see some razor porn that may have the same razor you are looking at, check these out. It's the fourth posting down on the page.

Thanked: 1I will have to go back and check out that razor, I haven't even tried to shave yet, but I am becoming a collector of sorts. These were actual photographs - very G-rated - Kinda cool.

Thanked: 1OK, I had a chance to go back to check out that razor once again. it is from "Golden Rule Cutlery" Chicago. I was told the pics are of "gibson girls".
The dealer is asking a whopping $245.00!!!
I wonder it it's made from solid gold...

I wouldn't pat $250 if it was made from solid gold. Well . . . . maybe.

Thanked: 4942We have seen these from time to time on Ebay. Some have photos of ladies and or nude ladies, some have masonic emblems or other fraternal organizations. It is hard to find them with clear pics as they tend to be cloudy. Looks like vintage razor prices are up across the board. One thing that I find about antique dealers is that you either get a steal because the dealer does not follow straight razors or the dealer is looking to make a fortune because he feels there is more value than there is. I keep looking for the middle ground. I would also say, that I see more collectors with these than shavers.
Have fun,
Lynn

That's exactly my experience with antique dealers as well, Lynn. Since I travel in my state quite frequently on day trips, I can stop in a lot of antique shops after my business is done.
More and more I hear the "A razor like this one went on Ebay for $$$ last week." I've been so close to retorting "Why don't you sell it on Ebay, then?". But, I tend to be more reserved.
It is glorious when you find the ones, like you've said, that don't have a clue on prices. Oh the $15 WB For Barbers Use Choppers!
