I am pretty sure Bill takes no credit for coining Irish Point. I seem to remember reading him saying that from what he has read, that shape was an Irish point and that was what he was going to call it, not French.

Thanked: 3I'm with Zethlent. Ellis never coined the word "Irish". In fact, he's pretty adament about it if you check out this page of his web site. Apparently he doesn't care too much for having words put in his mouth.

Thanked: 3Are you saying that you just believe in gugi, or is it that you believe gugi when he declares that Ellis fabricated the word "Irish" for one of his custom razors, thus taking credit for the "coined" term himself? That is my impression of gugi's statement anyway. Maybe he meant something different than what was written down. I'll delay judgement on that.
What do you bug gugi about, by the way? I thought you two were friends. What "point" was unbalanced? I'm missing the joke somehow. Or was that just to get even for the unkind words about you on Ellis' site as well?

Personally I find most of the diggs in this thread out of place on this site. In fact I'm quite surprised to see who half of them are coming from. I'm pretty new and have known everyone here to be nothing but gentlemen up until this point. I obviously don't know the story behind this(and don't care to) but regardless, do yourself a big favor and keep any bad mouthing to yourself as it really is unbecoming and makes others look down upon you whether you are in the right or not. This is just a little gentlemanly advice and no offense is meant so please don't take any. I have a lot of respect for many of you, your abilities and the generosity you put forth and thank you all for making SRP what it is.
May God bless you and your families this Easter,
-Duke

Duke I am going to agree 100% with you all the way. I know that this is also why the PM was sent and not addressed publicly. Although most members here are great and gentlemanly , such as yourself, there are things that happen behind the scenes that NEED to be addressed to keep this forum just as YOU and I like it.
I do , with no sarcasm , agree totally with you and thank you for bringing it up.Having Fun Shaving

I bet you are! Since we're in linguistics territory, let me educate you too with a reference Sockpuppet (Internet) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Incidentally this happened to be against forum rules to which you agreed. Twice (at least).
Nice job, Mr. Ellis, really nice job.
