    Default Advise please?

So I know I'm not a newb anymore, but that's why I need advice! I'm about to drop mad pay on this razor and strop- the strop I can tell is great, the razor is a near mint 7/8s goldedge. However the scales are different- no bolsters and goldedge is in the middle, not on a bolster. I *think* I've seen this before (on a satinedge?), but not too sure. Original or fake? I can get them for a fare price, if the razor is not fake.

What do you mean by "the scales are different"? Can you provide more/better pics.

IMO, razors are worth whatever they are worth to you. I wouldn't "drop mad pay" on any DD, but that's just cause I prefer different razors and I'm patient. That said, large, NOS Goldedges seem pretty rare, so you might consider how likely (on unlikely) it is that you'll ever get a shot at one again.

I have seen that type of scale set up on a GE before. I doubt its fake.
    Looks like a nice find!

By "mad pay" I mean more than my usual $50 limit. I know its bad to discuss prices but I'll say this it would be less than $200 for razor and strop. Which for me is two weeks pay which is why its "mad pay"- though its a pittance in the razor world.

Heres the linen and reverse side to see the gold stuff.

I think the same applies, because "a lot of money" is relative in the first place.

Mainly I was just checking to see if it was fake. I'm sure the price is easily recoverable should I decide its not worth it.

Looks fine to me. I doubt you would get that large blade into the average set of DD scales w/o it coming out the bottom. This scale setup was probably for a limited run for the larger blades. Nice find. Good luck.

I guess DD didn't have those folding dimension scales, eh Joe?

I guess not. I'm still amazed every time I open up that Hess, even though I know what's in there. How do they do that?!

Some closure- I bought them. Craigslist is a frickin' gold mine. Doubt I would've gotten both for $150 on ebay.
