Thanked: 24Rogers Cutlery Co.
I seen one of these razors in an antique store. Seemed to be in fairly good condition. Also fairly cheap. It had EXTRA HOLLOW GROUND etched on the side. Are these decent shavers? a.k.a. is it worth me purchasing?

Rogers made good razors, so this one might well be worth taking a flyer on, but the phrase "fairly good condition" could cover a multitude of problems. Give us some more details and post a picture if you can; we'll do our best to steer you right,
Best Regards

I own several Rodgers, and they are all excellent, excellent Sheffield steel. Better than W&B, in my estimation.
One thing to look for -- there are two brands out there called "Rodgers" One is marked "Geo. Rodgers" and the other is "Joseph Rodgers & Sons". I suppose the two companies are related, like "Wade" turned into "Wade & Butcher", but there are probably others here who know a lot more about the history.
Mainly, you need some photos of the blade so that people can see what kind of condition it's in. From photos, most people here would be able to say right away what can be fixed and what cannot. Good luck!

There was also another company called Rodgers Cutlery Co. Germany, mentioned in Goins' Encyclopedia, and the Standard Guide to Razors. Apparently they are still in business making tableware.

The blade looks good and there is not much honewear-the rust will probably be easily removed. I have one concern about the rust on the heel area of the blade bevel-there may be some pitting underneath-if it is shallow it will hone out. I hope that there is no deep pitting on the bevel in that area. Please let us know how it looks after being cleaned up, and please post "after" pics!

Don't forget to factor in honing & repair costs before you decide it is "fairly cheap"
