I think this is the perfect opportunity to pass down knowledge as well as a razor. I would have loved my father to show me the ropes and give me a razor, instead of what I got which was “there is can shaving cream and a disposable razor in the cabinet”.

Thanked: 363My suggestion for a young man, and any new beginner and it didn't fail me was a Wapi, it's a 1/4 hollow and roughly 6/8ths I believe, and shaves great has a nice round point ( good for beginners) and is very forgiving.
I got mine from The Invisible Edge, I'm sure they can be had elsewhere and cheap.

Thanked: 172I go along with getting together with Dad and try a few of his if he has a variety of styles. There will be good instruction and a common bond for both. And son LISTEN before doing, the thing is sharp.
