Gold Dollar 200?
OK guys, I'm thoroughly confused! I see the Gold Dollar 200 listed a few places (MrParko, Yabu007 and a few others) as being made of Carbon Steel for $32 - $38 and another (Mysterydoll) as being made of Stainless Steel for $18. So, which is it? I considered buying one but it its SS I need to know so I can read up on the difference between honing CS & SS.

Thanked: 43GD 200s are CS, not SS. I've got one, and it's definitely not SS.

I just went to the website and it listed material as alloy, now that really tells me a lot.............Also the web site said the GD200 shipped in a wood box, MysteryDolls ad shows a regular 2 piece cardboard box that says 'Mystery Razor' on it.
One thing I have learned for certain in the almost 2 years of researching str8 razors; there are 14+ million different combos/variations/manufactures/models/materials/etc./etc. out there, nothing is set in stone and I really don't think the human brain can grasp it all.
Valcan500Rider,
Thanks for the info, I was hoping someone with one would chime in. How did it hone up and what kind of shave does it give?Last edited by DoughBoy68; 04-01-2010 at 03:23 AM.

Thanked: 13245Probably the biggest myth perpetrated on all the forums is the one about SS razors being "harder" to hone...
They are not harder, they are a little different that's it,,, and that is barely noticable...IME they like the higher grit stones a touch more, thats it...
I would be more concerned with the other problems of honing a GD then whether it is CS or SS...
