here is my "new" C.V. Heljestrand MK 32 6/8 , does anyone know when this type was made? Are the handles from ivory or are these celluloid? How can i check it?

Heljestrands are some of my favorite razors especially if they are ivory scaled but the blade is the thing. IME if it is ivory there will be no washer in the rivets. If it is celluloid there will be the usual washer around the rivet. Also ivory will have a sort of irregular grain that may or may not be easily visible. On some you may have to turn the scale at an angle to see the grain. If it is faux ivory or celluloid made to appear to be ivory the grain will be uniform. Here are two Heljes with ivory flanking a Helje with celluloid. Nice piece you have there. As far as when it was made, I can't say for sure but I have an ivory scaled 32 that I bought from a 99 year old barber in Madison, NJ in the 1980s. He told me that he had bought it in the 1920s.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
