TI Carbonsong Silverwing steel Super Gnome razors?
Close to three years ago, I bought my very first new razor, a TI Super Gnome. The razor was warped. I ended up shipping it back directly to TI's factory. Nine months later I received a very unique Super Gnome Extra razor. Unique because believe it's the only Super Gnome Extra I know of that is made with the Carbonsong steel.
Does anyone else have or know of a Super Gnome made from the Carbonsong Silverwing steel?

Chris, IIRC on a thread in another forum the owner of TI was quoted as saying that all of TI's further production was going to be done with the same steel they had finally developed for the Silverwing limited editions. I think that is what is happening but I could be wrong. I was wrong twice before.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hmmmm....that's interesting. The Carbonsong steel is reported to have an RC 64-65 which seems outlandishly hard to me. I believe it though, this razor, to do anything to it honing or touching up wise seems to take ten times the effort of other razors. So all TI razors will now have only diamond hard blades.
I got this razor back from TI over a year ago. The current Super Gnome offerings on Classic (which have rounded scales) don't mention anything about carbonsong steel. Maybe the currently available Super Gnomes are old product? But then I recall my original defective Super Gnome had pointed scales like the one I've pictured.
Confusing mystery!

It seems to me the 'carbonsong' is just a marketing name that they may or may use depending on their marketing strategy. I also remember the quotes that the whole production is moving to that steel.
As far as hardening, 63-64 rockwell is one possibility, but I don't think it means that's what TI would be shipping out by default.

I'm not sure what the differences are, but the blades that Scott
has over at Rasage Poulin are definitely all new C135, and this
is 5/8" half-hollow:
Thiers-Issard Special-Coiffeur 5/8": Rasage Poulin Fine Wet Shaving Supplies : Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I've been sorely tempted to buy two of these... and you guys
know I have anti-RAD

As I recall the original Silverwings had some issues and they further refined the metal to what it is now. If they have moved production to the new stuff I would imagine they don't harp on it anymore.

Last I was told, everything will eventually be forged from C135.

Thanked: 4Incidentally, that spécial-coiffeur is a superb shaver, holds an edge very well and is an excellent value too. Highly recommended by yours truly.
