Filly 13 vs. Gotta 6/8 (square point)
I have recently been hearing about the similarities of both of these razors. I wondered if anyone had experience with both and could compare. While the price for filly's are crazy from my experience they do shave well (3-4 times better a razor of the same grind and size probably not but superior to most I think so). I have never tried the gotta's and wondered how alike the shave was?

Give me 2 weeks or more and I'll let you know. I have shaved with a 5/8" Gotta "Superfine" (roundpoint) and the shave is fantastic.
I have a Filly #13 on the way from Ebay. After it arrives, I'll post my report."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

To start with the Gotta 120 is more hollow compared to the Filarmonica. Both take a beautiful sharp edge. The Filarmonica 13 DT is smoother in my opinion. The Gotta 120 can be extremely sharp. I love em both but if I had to keep only one it would be the Filarmonica 13 DT. YMMV

I have an extra Hollow 6/8 Gotta 120 Hamburg Ring that I've used for about a year, it takes a very sharp edge. The shaves are very smooth and nice, it sings when you strop it on leather.

I had (and sold) a Gotta 120 8/8 that shaved like a dream. It was very, very hollow, really sharp and a pleasure to use -- stiff enough to get the job done and flexible enough not to cut your face with every mistake.
The feel of this blade was very similar to my Filly #13. Of course the #13 is a 6/8, and so it has a different weight and angle on the skin, but in my untutored view, the edge, steel and other qualities of both of these razors is damn near identical.
I can't say that I love my Filly the way that Max does, because I think there's even better razors out there for a lot less money (and I'm not saying what they are!!), but to me both the Filly #13 and Gotta 120 are about as close to perfect razors as anyone would want to find available for sale these days.
I hope this helps!
