Thread: Mother of Pearl Tang

Hi all

I have a new (old) Wostenholm with a mother of pearl tang, and would love to know it the MOP requires any special treatment with regards to maintainence.

The Camelia Oil I applied to the blade area got onto a bit of the MOP and seemed to change the translucency of it slightly, though I may be imagining it haha.

But in general, how does everyone out there care for their MOP tangs?

Nothing special.
Bone tangs with oil, can be discolored.

MOP tangs are undoubtedly different to maintain to standard metal or tangs covered with other materials, at least in my experience.

You need to sing to it every night.
