I can't think of one time I have actually seen it, in fact in that W&B catalog it is called, "Hollow Point"...
I have honestly only seen Round Point, Spike point, Square point, Oblique point and French point on anything printed pre 1970..and now Hollow point..
Does anyone have something old printed with those words???? Barber's point or notch????

Or has my memory gone to hell in a hand-basket?????
I understand the proper term for this kind of point is hollow point. I think "barbers notch" is another colloquial euphemism we have come to accept.

Just a thought but is it possible that the notch is there to make a manufacturing process easier?

I never saw in the old catalogs "Barber's Notch", only "hollow point".
I think, Barber's Notch is professional phrase of barbers.

Page from "The Barbers Manual" by A.B. Moler, Edition 1924.
    And here "hollow point".

    Glen, take one more question.
Irish point, French point or Oval point(the left razor on pic.)

In the continuation of the thread.
I've found "Barber(Bullet) point" in the catalog of 1929 with Genco razors.

    Now a question.
Have you seen something like that?

    P.S. For Genco lovers special:

I am 90% sure I have one of those Bullet Points on the bench, the blade was pretty much honed to death I thought someone had just dremeled that notch in there
