    Default Feather in Japan

    Does anybody know if Feather razors are ( a ) : easy to find in Japan, and ( b) : less expensive than in North America ?. I have a friend from work who will be in Japan next month so I thought about sending him on an erand. It is worth noting that he knows zero about straight razor shaving, so it'll probably only work if they are readilly available ( as in " go to drugstore ABC and pick-up model X " ). Maybe a long shot, but you never know.

    Thanks. Ken

    Do you have an empty that he can bring along? Or better yet
    a picture that he can point to. From your note I cannot tell if
    you want the handle (open blade, double edge), Feather open blade
    refill or the Feather DE refill.

    I suspect you want one of these:
    Vintage Blades LLC*::*Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razors*::*Feather "Professional" Razor Blades - 20 Pack
    Vintage Blades LLC*::*Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razors*::*Feather "Professional Super" Razor Blades - 20 Pack
    but which one.
    And VB is not the only sponsor that carries them
    these folk have all four feather refills.
    The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor

    Sorry for the confusion. I am looking for the handle not the blades. I don't have a preference for the western style straight handle vs the Japanese style ( fixed open position ). It is more out of curiosity and wanting a diposable blade straight for travel / days my regular isn't up to par, hence not wanting to spend the 150$ from Classic Shaving. It will really come down to price.

    Thanks. Ken

    I think that is my best bet. I'll tell him : " here is a photo of what want, spend no more than __$ ". I'm sure that it is a shot in the dark ( I had this crazy, hopeful notion that he would pick one up for next to nothing in a drugstore ) but like I say : " it never hurts to ask ".

    Thanks for the help.

    While I'm at it, I will send an e-mail to Feather asking for their points of purchase and price.

    They can be found at some large department stores in the cutlery section, but they usually only have the RG, not the DX.
