That is a stunning set, I can see why it's a Holy Grail...
I haven't had time to investigate, but I'd like to find something special with some Canadian heritage to it. Like something used by a Canadian soldier, or made in Canada, or designed for Canadians.
I know there's the modern Thiers-Issard one. But I mean something with history to it.
Whatever it is would have to be a good shaver though too, I'm not rich enough to collect just for show yet lol. ;)
I've seen two. The Le Grelot "Royal Canadian" and a Fritz Bracht from a Canadian Barbering school. You may well be able to find more of either - if that is a model of Le Grelot there should be bunches, and I would also assume the barber school must have had lots of razors. Naturally, given the makers, both are fantastic shavers.
Already got it. 5/8 ivory Rodgers wedge with clad tang. Poor photography does absolutely nothing to illustrate this achievement of a holy grail, but these are very rare, especially in such pristine original condition. No restoring.
Took me a long time to find her..and her twin! I'll take these over any 8/8, 10/8, whatever/8 for that matter, or livi damascus, you name it!
Has been my holy grail almost since I started wet shaving. Now I need the W&B version which is even rarer!

While there are many excellent brands of razors out there that are great shavers I am not hunting any one particular brand and am completely satisfied with the razors I currently own. I am really happy when I find an unknown brand that reaches the top of my list though. Here are two of them, a Gaines and a Jonrulf. If you ever get a chance to shave with one of these you'll understand what I mean.
The Holy Grail will always be out of reach. As soon as you lay hands on it it no longer is the Holy Grail!
I am really fortunate enough to have happened on some very nice razors. One of them that I have, in particular, is not the one that I originally though would be a "Holy Grail" contender. It is one of the razors that I got from Robert Williams not the one that I specifically had him make for me but one that he offered to me as a bonus buy. It is a superb razor that really does glide over my face. It hones like a dream, has hard steel that holds a simply incredible edge and looks pretty good. It is a 6/8, 1/4 grind.

It may not be what someone else would like but it just fits my shaving style. I have literally quit buying razors. I would like a TI C135,6/8, Full hollow but, really, for me I have quit looking and sampling for quite a while now. I have always been one not to be greedy and simply appreciate what I have but, with something this nice, that is pretty easy.
Take Care,
Richard
