Just like it says, what's the razor you've been hunting for or saving to buy? Whether it be a vintage or new custom, rare or common, doesn't matter. For me it's a 8/8 Reynolds frameback. What's yours?

Takeda/Livi razor with Rams horn scales... I've wanted one from the day I first saw one... Alas it is not to be :p
The one that I had to have was a W&B 8/8 with "for barbers use" stamped in the tang. I finally nailed one over a year ago on the bay for under a hundred bucks. Got lucky. Now I'm craving a pristine mint Otto Deutsch 6/8. Hard to find in pristine condition and I probably wouldn't want to pay what it would take to bring it home. :)
I also hunted for the 8/8 barbers use. I ended up finding and buying 4 of them but cracked the one that had it stamped on the tang. Still have 3 others though so it's all good, an I'm sure I'll come across another or two.
I was after a Dubl Duck Goldedge for ages, and finally got one a few weeks ago. I won a Satinedge on the 'Bay on Sunday as well..!
But what I really want is a Livi 8/8 Bergam Damask with abalone scales. I'm also being quite picky about the way I get hold of it as well. I dont want to order one, I want to go to his workshop in Italy and pick one up!
I think mine is either of my two Swedes.
I think it is safer to mention by name only those razors that already costs zillions in eBay..DDs, W&B 8/8's or Filarmonicas :)
Same here. The one I have is in very good shape (considering that it's the same dubious quality as the rest of the Bresnick family, also known as Dubl Rust), but I've decided to put it on display instead.
Apart from that... Otto Busch "Weltmeister" 8/8 (red scales), and - of course - a minty Puma 89 with black scales. I have, however, all the time in the world. And I know I will get them (a) in the end, and (b) for less than USD 100.
I forgot to mention the Chronik ..... not kidding.... one born every minute, I know, The list was long when I started out and as I acquired the ducks, the C-Mons, Pumas, Heljes the list grew shorter but it never ends. When the obscure object of desire is achieved it is always .... :y.... and then on to the next. :banghead:
Until recently it was Japanese KAMISORI razor made at Meiji time.
Now as I gained it, I long for WB 8/8 with "for barbers use" stamped in the blade.
As soon as I have it, i will be interested only in razors with blade to size 6/8 max (Fillarmonica DT 14 8/8 I have :-)
I'm in search of an old barber with a heck of a lot of razors who's knocking on death's door and is willing to add me to the will. :D
Mastro Livi 8/8 Bergam Damascus in Mammoth Ivory Scales.

It still makes me smile every time I use it.
A full custom of my design
Another one made by my own hand that shaves just as good as this one:

Outside of the Obvious customs (especially something by R. Williams... Just gorgeous... And Alex Jacques, and Livi, and Spazola, and... Dammit >.<)
Outside of customs, I want to find a Dubl Duck at a reasonable price (Not a steal, just not these frowned out 150 dollar antique store things :( ), I also direly want a nice W&B of my own, 7/8+... And, of course, the list goes on and on... But my collection is small, and I am /relatively/ young, so I'll live with what I've got for now (which isn't half bad :p, just in need of some work)
I'd say the thing on top of my list right now... Some Buffers and some hones, so I don't have to send out for work...
My unicorn razor is a 7/8 or bigger Swede.
Huuuh. I'm wearing out the HELJE keys on my keyboard.
The Henckels with scales by John Cole was the one razor that I really had to have. So... I got it. :)
Whenever Charlie starts selling razors, some of his stuff will probably be pretty high on my list.
I have filled most of my lists but still hunting the elusive C-MON Cadillac Razor in Vintage NOS or near condition.... I will find it...
I was after a larger Boker, but that came in the mail yesterday as a zero hone wear Red Injun #102 at a shapely 6/8+ the best part was the $30 price tag as the scales are trashed and there is a tiny bit of rust on the blade...
Luckily I know somebody that can make scales, and might be able to polish it out for me. :w
I still enjoy the surprise razor that I get a steal on, like the nearly NOS Boker that I snagged up at $18 shipped, a little odd ball made in the USA, can't wait to get in in the the rotation with the #102...I am very curious about the feel of the steel
I don't know what she is, but I'll know her when I see her...
There is one that I really really want, too. Unfortunately, so does everyone else.
I haven't been in this long enough to have that one, I want them all. That been said I would love one of the str8s any of the guys here make. Whether a long time custom builder or just a few blades in. Unfortunately that's not in the cards yet (unless someone wanted to trade for a custom fly rod.)
Each time I look in the classifieds I have to ask my wife. She's getting a little tired of that.
This John Barber. Hope Clavichord doesn't mind me borrowing his picture.
That is a stunning set, I can see why it's a Holy Grail...
I haven't had time to investigate, but I'd like to find something special with some Canadian heritage to it. Like something used by a Canadian soldier, or made in Canada, or designed for Canadians.
I know there's the modern Thiers-Issard one. But I mean something with history to it.
Whatever it is would have to be a good shaver though too, I'm not rich enough to collect just for show yet lol. ;)
I've seen two. The Le Grelot "Royal Canadian" and a Fritz Bracht from a Canadian Barbering school. You may well be able to find more of either - if that is a model of Le Grelot there should be bunches, and I would also assume the barber school must have had lots of razors. Naturally, given the makers, both are fantastic shavers.
Already got it. 5/8 ivory Rodgers wedge with clad tang. Poor photography does absolutely nothing to illustrate this achievement of a holy grail, but these are very rare, especially in such pristine original condition. No restoring.
Took me a long time to find her..and her twin! I'll take these over any 8/8, 10/8, whatever/8 for that matter, or livi damascus, you name it!
Has been my holy grail almost since I started wet shaving. Now I need the W&B version which is even rarer!

While there are many excellent brands of razors out there that are great shavers I am not hunting any one particular brand and am completely satisfied with the razors I currently own. I am really happy when I find an unknown brand that reaches the top of my list though. Here are two of them, a Gaines and a Jonrulf. If you ever get a chance to shave with one of these you'll understand what I mean.
The Holy Grail will always be out of reach. As soon as you lay hands on it it no longer is the Holy Grail!
I am really fortunate enough to have happened on some very nice razors. One of them that I have, in particular, is not the one that I originally though would be a "Holy Grail" contender. It is one of the razors that I got from Robert Williams not the one that I specifically had him make for me but one that he offered to me as a bonus buy. It is a superb razor that really does glide over my face. It hones like a dream, has hard steel that holds a simply incredible edge and looks pretty good. It is a 6/8, 1/4 grind.

It may not be what someone else would like but it just fits my shaving style. I have literally quit buying razors. I would like a TI C135,6/8, Full hollow but, really, for me I have quit looking and sampling for quite a while now. I have always been one not to be greedy and simply appreciate what I have but, with something this nice, that is pretty easy.
Take Care,
Richard
I am pretty much satisfied with my hoard. The only thing I am still looking for is a Mappin Lancet. I haven't given up yet.
I would very much like to strike PUMA GOLD!
Every razor in my stable!
I had been wanting a TIPTLE for years but never got one before the supply ran out. Last Christmas I was looking around at different web sites and stumbled upon a site in Belgium that had a brand new one offered. I figured that they just hadn't updated their site because I hadn't seen a new one at retail for a long time but I contacted them anyway just to check. Here is the package that arrived from Belgium a few days later!
I am constantly searching for another Lisbon razor. They were made by T. Warburton between 1770- 1835.
Mine is 1810- 20 vintage, slightly scimitar, and what a shaver! It is my 'go to' razor. I like it so much I want a back up in case something horrible happens to it.
To find another would be great, but to find one with tortoise scales..... that would be the Grail!

quicknicker
All the beautiful, non big name, awesome shaving razors I snag off the Bay for cheap because of all the people with "XXXX" brand tunnel vision :D. I do have a couple I'm still hunting, a Hans Otto,Case Temperlite, and an Engels Special, although the Wapi 2(red scaled full hollow version) seems to be my unicorn......
A Robert Williams.
I wouldn't mind a Dorko or another schlieper either, but the grail for me is a nice custom RW.
I'm not saying that I'll have any involvement in this, but one morning Max is going to wake up and find this missing from his cabinet:
http://straightrazorpalace.com/membe...-easy-aces.jpg
If I find one of these, I'm set.
One of mine was also a Puma Gold (hopefully I can cross that off my list). I don't really have holy grails, more like razors that I really want, so there's always a list of them.
A nice Globusmen comes to mind.
A Fritz Bracht Dovo (I have a Tennis already, but wouldn't mind a Dovo as well).
A nice Japanese straight.
Those are the ones I can think of. Not likely that I'll get them soon as I'm rarely willing to pay what a razor is actually worth. I'll wait
