Razor gifts - need help to ID

Happy new year everyone !

I met one of my friends for new years, who`s father past away recently. Anyways, he handed me his fathers straights. Knowing that I`m interested in straight razors, he said that he knew they would be in good hands if I had them. I was extremely touched by the gesture.

Anyways, after looking at them, I don`t have a clue about their history. I was wondering if someone here can help me out.















Before sending them out to get honed, I`m simply going to brush off the heavy rust, but I want to keep the scars that time put on them. Normally, I`d want to make them nice and shinny again, but since I knew the person who owned the razors, I want to keep them as close to they are now. Does anyone have suggestions as to what minimum restoration should be done on theses razors ?

I would just get some metal polish like MAAS, Flitz, or Blue Magic and polish them by hand with a rag. It works well at removing rust, while leaving the 'age' intact.

first one looks pretty clean already, but i would probably retire it
(a light honing at the most if that is enough for you to try it if you feel the need for that)

Second regular steel wool is my choise to remove light rust (I use the swint with soap)
It will need a good cleaning and drying after
Someone will probably chime in soon and tell us why this is a bad idea(It work for me and no problem so far)

Third remove the blade and wash it

I thought I might try and get this thread going again, I would really enjoy knowing a bit more about these razors. If someone knows anything about them, I would be very grateful for any kind of information.

it is hard to see some of the markings on your razors
for instanse on the "Constantinopel" ****cutlery germany ?
is the last one a Durham Duplex or some look alike?

The first razor says "Dixon Cutlery co" on it.

Yes, the last one says "Durnham" on it. Unfortunately I don't ahve the razor in front if me, and I didn't notice just how bad the pictures are... , so I can't tell if it also says "duplex" on it. I'll know tonight.

The second razor is a easy one.
Durham duplex- originally,Durham razor company.ca1925,purchased Alfred williams co. Pre-1942, name changed to Durham-Enders razor company of mystic, connecticut ,under which name they acquired the w&s butcher company of Sheffield. By1970, they were the Durham-Duplex Co. Of Sheffield.

But I still don't have any luck with the other 2 razors...
