Me and BKratchmer have been discussing this blade in chat and we would like a little information on these symbols and what the intended purpose for this blade was?

Very nice razor. Those are definitely Masonic symbols on the blade. The intended purpose of the blade is probably no different than any other blade and that is to shave with it. It was owned by a mason or given to a mason from one another as a gift. As to the meanings of the symbols, I cannot disclose them here. Are you a freemason?

Thirty years ago I was an "out of town" man, a boomer, and walked into Ironworker's Local 11 in Newark. I introduced myself to the business agent and he said,"Are you on the square?" I was puzzled and said well .... uh yeah. What I didn't know was if I had been a mason and said something like,"I'm on the level." I would have had the red carpet rolled out. My boom out partner in those days used to call masons "A framers" and didn't like them because within the union they got preferential treatment .... if the business agent was also a mason .... and they usually were. They are good people though IME and do a lot of good in the communities they live in.
