    Default Ebay finds

    Hi,
I got these razors off ebay(My first straight razors)

I'm a total newbie on straight razors. Will they be good for shaving frequently? Also where I should send them for honing? Thanks.

Provided that there is no edge corrosion, those should make great shavers. I do not know your whereabouts, so I am unable to recommend a honemeister within your proximity; however go to the Classifieds and check under Member services. Use any of them if you are in the US, ie. Lynn, Max or Glen etc. If you are in the Uk, go to the Invisible edge.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on

I do not know of any honemeisters in Turkey. Perhaps a local barber may be able to help you? I have heard of people having old fashioned shaves in Turkey, whether it was with a straight or a shavette I do not know. The guys I know who had them would not have known the difference.

Possibly Bart at ww.coticule.be could help you - he even offers a single free honing with a Belgian coticule. He is based in Belgium. I believe there is also a guy in Israel who offers honing, I could ask him is you wish. Otherwise the UK is not far where there are a couple of honemeisters, as well as Germany where a few are based.

    Hope this helps.

Welcome to SRP. Nice pair of razors. The second one looks like the point has been reshaped but still should hone up to be a good shaver. I wish I knew of a convenient place to suggest having the honing done in your neck of the woods but I'm afraid that I don't. Check out the SRP Wiki link in my signature line below. Aside from the beginner's guide there is a great deal of information on honing and maintaining straight razors. What hones are suggested and their characteristics. Lots of good stuff.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Hi again,
All barbers I know use shavettes so it seems it will be very hard to find a honemeister around here. I sent a message to Undream from the Member service section so I will wait his answer and if not I will contact Bart . Thanks for your kindness.

Hopefully I will print and read them on the weekend. Thanks for the warm welcome
