Thanked: 2209I don't know if they had a "lock" on it...I have seen some French razors of the same style. Perhaps they were the first to make this style or simply the most widely distributed? Just guessing.......

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Maybe it's similar to the way we use the word "Kleenex" to describe all tissue paper. Or perhaps more closely, like our dish french fries. At the very least it is interesting to note that framebacks from Sweden seem to have been the best known razor of that type in the U.S the late 19th century.
