OK, you got me! How about this; I don't NORMALLY sell Dovos. I forgot about those.

If you don't need them, I'll take them. The scales might look too colourful outside the Village, but gift horses and all that...
As an aside, I wonder why you did not tell the customer to raise the issue with the vendor, and - if required - report the results. Especially since this is apparently a super rare razor. At least I have never seen a Dovo special with plating (I presume you meant 'gold plating'?) and white scales.
Your would think one of "Us" Wunderkind would think to just give Dovo a call, or shoot them an E-mail about this unique Str8?? Just a thought from one of the lesser.
Your friend, tinkersd
What a wonderful idea. So, next time I see an American car with QA issues, I call the manufacturer in the US, claiming I've been using cars for some time and therefore know what a car should be like. I'm sure the results of this conversation will be extremely useful.
I can easily imagine that. So you suggest to contact Dovo because:
- You are not a legal entity involved in the transaction between the seller (ie retailer) and the buyer?
- You believe that the razor in the image is in fact a Dovo razor, despite the fact that no-one has seen a Special in white scales with whatever plating before?
- You have seen the video of Dovo's production line and believe you can contribute some useful insight into how to streamline production processes based on your massive personal experience which will dwarf their 104 years of experience and probably millions of razors made?
- All of the above?
As I said, a truly wonderful idea.
Regards,
Robin
Maybe my perception of this issue is warped because I have no commercial interest in razors. But what exactly are we talking about here? All we have is some pictures of a razor of unknown make and model, which someone we don't know has taken a Dremel to. So much for facts. The rest is fiction. Either way, if that razor is in fact a Dovo, it will have come with a product warranty, and any reputable vendor will replace a faulty product anyhow. So what would you want to learn from Dovo? "Wassup, Dovo dudes, my name is X, and I'm totally into str8s!!!! I have seen a razor that may or may not be a Dovo on the internet. Someone I don't know has worked on it with a Dremel, and now claims it has a funky defect. So whatcha gonna do about this outrageous error on your behalf?" Sounds like a perfect plan.
That's what I'm trying to get at - surely they would know? They might even be interested in how it came to look like that if it was a legit Dovo. Everyone enjoys a bit of mystery and trying to work it out, after all.
Regards,
Neil
Alright everyone, calm down. Based on what is posted here there may not be enough info to contact Dovo bit that doesn't mean the info doesn't exist. I just hasn't been presented in this thread. I'm going to lock this thread for a few days for everyone to calm down and collect the facts if they wish. I find this thread interesting but also lacking in enough details for anyone other than John or the owner to contact Dovo with what has been presented in this thread to date.
I've reopened this thread as the owner of the razor contacted me and the vendor has been informed.
Good morning all,
Ok, Lets clear up a few things and then sit back and wait for the facts.
The razor you all have been chatting about is mine...
It's a $79.00 "Best Quality " with a set of pearl handles . Why pearl handles?? why not , they were free. I had sent it to John after mentioning to him , that I was polishing the spine and had uncovered something rather surprising. So in good faith I sent it to him to see for himself what I had found. Nothing More than that. I purchased the razor from SRD , and have spoken with Lynn about sending it to Dovo. As of 7:am Pacific time USPS tracking states the razor should land on Lynn's doorstep sometime today.
Lynn will send it to Dovo , and we will all have to wait and see what they say .
Pure and simple, no hidden agendas , no vendor bashing, no nothing .
I simply wanted to polish my razor and gee look what I found. That's It.
So please, Let's just sit back and wait to see what Dovo has to say.
I wish you all a Great Shave!!
And please, be Nice to each other.
Thank You,
Peter.
interesting! maybe they started damascus, & gave up quick?? just kidding. I wonder why they did that?

I have received a number of e-mails regarding Dovo's word on the razor .. It was sent to Lynn....Lynn will send it to DOVO. I have not heard anything as yet. When and if I do I will post it.
Thank you,
Peter.
Very curious read. I have heard of manufactures being intrested in rare defects, and would think Dovo would fall into that category.
In any case, it seems like you have a very unique razor. I'm looking forward to what Dovo has to say.
No word as yet .......Don't know if we will...But I'm still interested to know.
Me too...................
Have fun,
Lynn
