    Default Oiling razors?

Hey all, i've recently started collecting razors and because i live on the coast of Australia their starting to get a bit of corrosion on them from the salt. Just wondering what type of oil to put on them to prevent it from happening?

If you already have rust on some of the blades, then you need to remove it ASAP. Light surface stuff can be removed with a good metal polish like Maas. I believe it leaves a protective residue on the steel. Oiling after that is still a good idea though.

I know what you mean living on the coast I use mineral oil (heavy) only and it works well
Yet the rust there is a gum eraser stick we have here in the states that would take it off like a hot knife through butter ... don't know if they have that down under though

    Good luck
    stay safe

    straighty180,

I have had superb results using Sentry Solutions TufGlide/TufCloth. The carrier evaporates to leave a dry surface, which is not tacky or oily

    have fun !

    best regards

For short term storage it's fine. Because it's a fat, I'm not sure it's as good of a choice for long term storage. I'm only talking in terms of collectors. For shavers, Camellia is just fine.

    Default Clove Oil

Anyone used clove oil before? Specfiically Eugenia caryophyllata? I bought some yesterday from a knife shop in Taipei which didn't have camellia oil but they say this is what has been used for centuries on Samurai swords. Japan is just round the corner so I don't doubt this. Any experience with this particular type of natural oil to protect carbon blades?
