Thanked: 198thanks glenn it does help, i also know now what you meant when you talk about the wedge being a real b*&$ch to hone, i am still working on that one, i do believe it is a near wedge, but it just wont hone up right, so i put it away for now, and finished honing the other razor i got the other day, it is a novelty cutlery co, out of canton oh. that one hones up fairly nicely, i hope it shaves as well

Your razor is almost identical to my Wade and Butcher "American Razor". I wonder if W&B may have made your razor on consignment to Superior and stamped that company's name on the tang. Or, was this eagle emblem just another standardized etching used by several different companies? There is a similar etching called "The Improved Eagle Razor" that I have found by several makers including Imperial and Garland.

Yes. Mine is a "near wedge" or something like it. It has a very slight concave grind, but still a lot of metal there.

There are a few different makers of American Razors with very similar writings and etchings. I have seen W&B, Wostenholm and Greaves.
wvloony, yours looks like it's frosted, not etched, is that right?

Yes, it does. There is no way that I know of to clean the frosted side of a razor without losing the frosting. That stuff comes of very easily.
