    Default Marx & Co Razor

I recieved this Marx & Co Razor, Solingen (along with a few others) from my mom after my dad passed away and was wondering if there is any information about it as to age and quality...

It is not ready to shave with yet but will be using it soon...
Sorry for the poor quality pictures working on that too.
    Thanks in advance...

Very nice razor. I can't give you history but I do have one at home and it is a good shaver. If I remember I'll post a pic later tonight.

Edit: Here's a pic of the razor I promised.

When I first recieved the razor it was nearly blackish/brown with stain or age on the scales (I think they are celuloid) and the blade was very dark too. After a little work I think it cleaned up nicely but would like to get it polished and sharpened.

Nice scales and covered tang! Is it a Spanish point? Can you give more details on the markings? Goins' lists two Marx razors; one from Germany which has a hen and rooster logo, and which was made by C. Bertram. The other Marx is simply listed as Marx Bros. New York, New York. c. 1876. Wonder which one your have, if either?

I will just have to get better pictures to show....I'm not sure what kind of point it has as I'm am new to straight razors...I have been shaving with a DE ever sence I started shaving and have been wondering about straight razors and I think I want to start using them...
On the tang are the words Marx & Co and under that is the word Solingen. On the other side of the tang is a emblem triangle looking with the letter M or W (can't remember) and under a line marking letter C under it.
    I hope this helps...

I am not sure... I thought that at first, just don't know...the scales don't seem as flexable as celulose although they do flex some they are not chipped and the edges are nice and sharp towards the inside of the scales.

    Default big trouble

That looks like the much-dreaded "Harpo" Marx razor. Please contact me for disposal instructions.

Is it really that bad or can it be salvaged and used? The steel looks to be in good shape and I do know how to temper steel to make it harder or softer...but just asking for information about it...it was my dads for years and I think I'll keep it for awhile too.
