Thread: Why did you buy that last razor?

At one point (recently) I was down to only 2 straight razors. Then I bought a very nice 6/8 Bismarck Registered at an antique store because I liked the size and condition of the blade. I followed that up with another 15 razor purchases in the following 10 days. The main reason for purchasing them was I liked the overall quality of the selections after searching through several hundred at this source and the shop keeper sold me all 15 for under $15.00 a piece. I felt that if I decided to sell any of them in the future, it was likely that I wouldn't lose a dime because of how reasonably I purchased them in the first place.

Thanked: 5The last couple were purchased out of optimism, and because the price was not much more than a coffee at Starbucks.
I bought 2 at 2 different antique shops on the hope that one of them would work out okay. Well, as it turned out, the surface pitting was too much on both, and I could not get a clean edge on either.
So, I paid $11 dollars for some honing practice, and a rather nice set of bone scales. I can live with that
Cheers,
Ian

Thanked: 74Seemed like a good idea at the time.
The price was right.
Even though I already have 1 that is the same, this one may be in better shape.
As long as I keep stuff moving in and out of the house, its ok with the wife.

Thanked: 124I like large, heavy wedges. They're hard to find so when I see a nice one, I tend to buy it. I have three now so I haven't been looking for any more.
