    Default AOS Thiers-Issard Tang Codes X Y Z

    I remember reading somewhere about the Art of Shaving Thiers-Issard straight razors and the letter codes on the tang. Can anyone tell me what the "Z" means on mine? (I bought it second-hand.)

    Thanx,
    Me

    CJBianco;

    That tang letter code is an identifier which allows the factory to determine to which heat treatment group a particular blade belongs and assists them in maintaining tighter quality control. For some more details on the matter, I refer you to an article I wrote: Thiers-Issard - pre-production new steel test razor forging - Badger & Blade
