Thanked: 1Straight Razor Bargain?
Hey,
I've got a friend who's become insanely jealous of my new shiny straight razor. Anyone have any suggestions for straight razors on a budget? I'm trying to find him something at least decent for pretty cheap, and we'll send it to Lynn for honing. Also, if there are good deals on brushes (not necessarily badger or boar) and strops anywhere, that would be great too.

Thanked: 3795In general the SRP classified section is going to provide you with the best bargains. Sometimes you can pick up a bargain razor that may have cosmetic issues but still shaves great.

For the razor it depends on what you mean by cheap. I got my razor on the classifieds here and it came shave ready for cheaper than I've found anywhere but ebay, and the bay isn't necessarily the most trustworthy source for razors. There are pretty much always cheap razors on the classifieds available and most are shave ready.
As for the strop and brush, I picked up a boar bristle brush from the shaving section at a supermarket for like $5, and I got the filly strop here: RupRazor - The Filly
It's suggested as a beginners strop and is pretty inexpensive so it should fit your needs. Also check out the classifieds here for a deal on a better strop if you want.
Hope this helps, good luck!
