Hi Rookie...good point, but I am aware of the shorthand connotation of str8. That's not what I was asking. My quest is to know why is a straight razor called a straight razor? . Not why do we use "str8" versus "straight".

    Default STR8

In my humble opinion I believe someone just gave it a nickname to shorten it up. we see that in text messages today. For example. L8R for later and 2maro for tomorrow. That's just my guess

    Default STR8

Now you got me really wondering. Looks like I'll be on a quest.

    Best always,

You might want to read responses to your post before posting again.

I do Utopian...those responses are, I believe, in order. I did read every single one with genuine interest. I am confused as to why you think I omitted reading some and you posted them for me to see again??? Am I missing something here by Rookie1 and to my own post to his response (that you quoted)??

    Ready to be enlightened .

I was responding to his response to your response to his response--not to your response to his response. That is, his response to your response to his response seemed to ignore your response to his response.

    Best always,
Thank you Rookie1...I think Tim, Neil, Mugusen, Mark, Deckard, ignatz, nightblade, AFDavis, Utopian and numerous others had very interesting insights as well...not sure if there's any historically documented factoid that validates these thoughts or not, but we'll see

    Thanks

I think "straight razor" is a shortened term for "straight edge razor".
