    Default Thiers Issard Frameback

Hi guys this is just a general question!

I was at an antique store recently and they had a selection of razors, some of the names I didn't quite recognize, but they did have a theirs issard frameback. There was some clear honewear and a bit of flattening on the spine and a small chip on the cutting edge, but it can be honed out, I'de loose about 1/16 of the blade doing so.
It was priced at 35$ I wanted to know if it's worth getting and working on.
Or if this specific thiers issard is one that is not saught after and not worth my effort.
( I fully intend on keeping it if I get it, but I dont want to buy a razor and put some effort on it to find out it wasnt worth the time)

thank for your opinions in advance!

Personally,I wouldn't give $35 for an antique store razor with noticeable hone wear and a chip that goes 1/16 of the way into the blade. It's either going to be a lot of work or expense to get it right.Maybe you could get it for $15 or $20 if you point out these flaws.

+1 with aroliver59. If you could take a photo to show the spine flattening you would get a more accurate assessment but from your description I would pass on that one. TI makes a good razor but I'd look for one with less wear and no visible chips.

    Thanks for your opinions guys!

I can just hope he gets some new stuff!
I should probably familiarize myself with other razor brands as well!
Next time I go I'll take pictures of the razors he has and I'll assess them at home and post some up.

If you go to the forum menu and look for the Razor Clubs sub forum there is a feast for the eyes in there of many brands favored by members. In the SRP Wiki the razor database is also a good resource.

Its worth 10-15$ if anything at all, there are too many good ones out there to settle for crap.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
