    Default J.A Henckels Razors

Is Henckles still making razors? I saw a razor advertised as new with unmarked wood scales and with Henckles and the twins marked on the tang.

Yes they are, although there is some dispute among SRP members as to whether they are of the same high quality and shave as well as vintage Henckels straight razors.

There are some newer production Henckels razors out there now, but from what I've heard the oldies are a better shave.

I've only ever shaved with an old one, so I dont have the comparison with the newer ones.

I though it might be too good to be true. I saw it on ebay for about $120.00.

I bought one when they had black plastic scales and it did the needful.

I have an old 15/16 henckels too. I'm not sure if one is better then the other. They each shave different.

Realize this is an old thread but will drop my two cents anyway. I recently came into possession of a Henckels #14 15/16 blade, carbon steel, plain black scales, with very little use. I hone and test 200+ razors a year for the past few years, and this is easily in the top 10 razors I have ever tried.

I have one of the new-production carbon steel Henckels that I bought last year as a backup to the Dovo I got from SRD. Although the Henckels had an uneven grind (more on one side than the other) and a warped fin out of the box, I have since been able to straighten the fin and it has become a nice shaver. Not as good as my vintage Henckels blades, however.

    Hi Royce,
Forgot to mention, not only does this one shave great, as with most good quality razors, it feel in line off the hones right away, no surprises, no great amount of work. Not sure how old the #14 is.
