Thanked: 0Help me pick a razor for the old man
Ciao a tutti!
Nice to meet you,
This is my first post, glad to be here.
My old man's birthday is coming up and I have trouble finding a nice razor for him. I'm stuck between two choices: Thiers-Issard Silverwing with ram (a true beauty ) and a EPBD Filarmonica (brand new, old school, classy look). I'm not sure which one gives the best, closest shave which is why I might get both and keep one for me. Thank you

Welcome to SRP,
I've been down that road, it's a fine solution to a difficult conundrum.
Have fun.

The shaves between the two are a matter of preference. You will get a great shave from both. The scales on the TI would be what would tip the balance of the scales (no pun intended) for my decision. I don't recall Filarmonica scales being that great.

If someone were to present either one to me as a gift I would love it. I think you can't go wrong either way you turn on this one

Both are great, but I'd go with the TI. Filarmonica scales are pretty cheap and plasticky!

I would tend to agree with CableDawg and Stubear. Both razors will provide excellent shaves. However, the TI will be the one with the most aesthetically pleasing, eye-catching scales.
