That is a GREAT razor. How did you get it? I would hold on to it forever if I were you. Really nice find. You don't see that many early DOVO razors.

That really is very cool! (if your into razors, of course!) A real bit of company history. As John say's, that's a keeper. Unless Dovo are interested in paying a fortune for it.

You're right, Dorp & Voos = Dovo.
The owners of DOVO were Dorp and Voos, Dovo Stahlwaren, Solingen-Wald, Böcklingstrasse 24.
Fritz Bracht became the owner in 1940.Last edited by manah; 07-22-2010 at 08:04 PM.

Thanked: 1371(a quick Google search finds: )
DOVO was founded in 1906 by Carl Dorp and Carl Arthur Voos.
I guess "DOVO" sounded better than "Carl and Carl".
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I have a seven day set of Dovo Solingen model 25s in mint condition. The razors are all identical save the days of the week marked on the gold washed spines and the two out of seven that are stamped Dorp & Voos on the reverse tang rather than Fritz Bracht. So I'm guessing this set came together shortly after Bracht took over the Dovo factory.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Wow, thanks for the outpouring of Dovo-love! I don't own any other Dovo razors, but I guess now I can say that I do. The one I have looks like it's never been honed, and it still has some kind of oil on the blade and part of the cellophane wrapper on the box. Appreciate all of the good info, gentlemen!

Thanked: 74Did Dovo acquire the Tennis brand a long time ago? I seem to remember reading that Dovo acquired a few different brands of straight razors including Bismarck. That is a really neat razor. I wonder if the 8/8's size makes it even more rare. Thanks for sharing.
