    Try Renaissance Wax. The British Museum uses it to preserve armor, swords, ceramics, stones, and a lot of other stuff.

    I'm not sure if you can get it in the U.S., but it's worth looking for. A 100ml bottle is only a few pounds.

    As a machinist, when we put items away we would use an oil or grease with Lithium. LPS or similar; for some reason, it prevents rusting. WD-products do not do the job long term.
    Is there a health hazard here? Long report from Environmental Chemistry.com:
