Thread: Dovo 3/8 Jubilaum?

I didn't know Dovo had ever made 3/8s. I know they made 4/8s in INOX, (Stainless) the Dovo 42 with a French point.

The dimensions on that Dovo don't look like a 3/8, but it obviously is if they're a company selling it as a 3/8. Either way I think its expensive. I have a Biedermeir 3/8 that cost me not even 10% of that.

I agree that the razor doesn't look like a 3/8, so if that is an actual picture of the razor, I would guess that it is shorter than normal, and therefore it looks like a normal 5/8 razor. (i.e. if someone showed you a photo of a quarter which was, in all regards, twice normal size, your brain would see a normal quarter. Same if you shrank something, like a razor...)

That said, I have no idea

Since I plan to sell a nice bunch of razors I currently have, I decided to buy this Dovo 3/8 because I think it would be nice for the mustache and chin area. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but we'll see!

I'll post dimensions and pics when it comes.

Ideal size for certain areas is entirely personal preference. I can shave under my nose with a 8+/8 razor without any trouble.

Well I bit and went for the little Dovo Jubilaum 3/8 and it is a cute little razor. It is indeed smaller. The blade length is nicely proportional to the width so that indeed, in a photo, you would think it was a regular sized razor.

I lack one of my respondents' talent for shaving in closely confined spots with 8/8 wedges and appreciate a delicate razor for delicate moments. I've used a Feather Nape and Body Razor, but like having a "real" straight for those close calls in shaving.

The pictures put the razor alongside a straightedge for measurement, and another typical 5/8 razor for proportions.

I'm just reporting on what Dovo calls it and whether the blade was a traditional length or whether the razor was proportionally smaller--that was my original question.

It does measure out wider than 3/8. I haven't calipered it, but just laying it on a ruler gives me a hair over 4/8, which could be the angle I'm looking from. For fun I'll use the old micrometer caliper on it this PM and get back to you.
