Thanked: 530Step 1: Turn off caps lock
Step 2: Grab a ruler
Step 3: Measure from the spine to the edge.
Success.
EDIT: If you want to measure the grind, consult these charts... The bottom chart is more often used, but the top one is more specific.

I have been straight shaving since 2008 and can do a little restoring but is it not crazy that if I sold a razor and they asked what size it was I would not be able to answe specifically. I can look at a razor and say like I know that is 5/8 or 8/8 but finally decided to tuck the tail under and ask!!

Thanked: 530I actually had the same problem... For the first few months of my straight shaving, I thought that the measurements I heard were arcane ways of describing the thickness of the spine! I couldn't figure out the system until I just asked... Oh. It's spine to edge.
Cheers,
Jeremy

I measure from spine to edge at both the widest and narrowest perpendicular points if I am selling. Otherwise I just eyeball it or repeat what the previous owner told me

I was worse than that I have been shaving since 2008 and did not bother asking I was so excited with my new hobbby and here in East Tn there are loads of great name brand great condition razor and even taught my self a little restoring with bills' CD and got so mush into it and now I was just too imbarrassed after three years and never asking anyone especially when I have a friend like ken rupkalvis at ruprazor.com it was embarrasing but oh well got through it!
