Thread: KC area SR's

Does anyone know of any place in the KC area that carry SR's? Not planning on buying, just want to check out sizes and see what might feel comfortable in my hand, and I'll save the buying for a place like SRD or Classic. Any info would be appreciated.

I think the number of retail stores carrying numerous sizes and open to letting you try holding them in-store is probably limited. If you're new I would recommend a 5/8 or 6/8, and if you don't like it you can always sell it and get a different size. Good razors can be had for very reasonable prices in the Classifieds here, too, and you might be able to pick up several sizes for the price of one new razor from a vendor.

I don't know about vendors, but the Mid-MO guys get together pretty often. I have been itching to do some BBQ-ing, so I might try to set one up pretty soon if you want to make a little trip to Columbia, MO.

If the usual MO/KC suspects show up, you will have a wide range of razors and stones to mess with.

Joe is right we have plenty of us . keep checking srp you will see we meet very often.

As noted above, the Classifieds section of SRP and straight razor meets is the best option for purchase and oggling.

If you want to get your hands on one, your best bet might be to peruse the antique stores. You can usually find some nice ones for $10-$20, after a little TLC, they are good to go. I understand you are probably looking to buy new, but this might give you an idea of what you're getting into.

I'm planning on hitting some of the antique malls to see if I can find some. Was just wondering if there were any places around kc that might have new ones. The Columbia deal I could probably do depending on when it was. Do you post the dates for the get togethers on here? Thanks guys for the info.
