Default Anyone here read Russian? :)

So when Dad passed away last year I inherited this; which I assume he acquired sometime during his tenure with oh.. um.. an "agency that centralizes intelligence" in the '50s and '60s.

I have no idea if its "any good" but since it was Dad's, I'd like to get it cleaned up and shave ready. (I've just spent time going through Undream's restoration videos. Thanks to him for those!)

    Thanks,
    Michael B.

Send a PM to hi_bud_gl or to manah and one or the other should be able to read that and translate it for you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The main word on the tang is "Extra", and it's also the large word on the box (the T looks like an M in hand-written script). The word immediately before it on the box is "Razor". I can't make out the rest, or rather, my wife can't.

This Soviet razor was made by СТИЗ(STIZ). You can read about maker in the WIKI.
    On the box:
Местная промышленность г.Москва - Local Industry, Moscow
    Бритва "Экстра" - razor "Extra"
Завод стальных изделий - Factory of Steel Products.

Here is a thread about Russian razors too.

One trick you can use (not just for Russian but lots of languages) is to use translate.google.com. The software is getting better and better every day.

All you need to do is use the program "Character Map" which is available on all windows machines to find each character, build up the sentence on the translate.google.com website and translate it to English. It worked for all of the sentences Manah translated.

You can even use it go backwards, for example: Хорошая работа Manah! (which hopefully reads Good work Manah!).

Если вы читаете это, пожалуйста, пришлите мне бесплатный бритвы.

Please let us know if this works out for you. Would be very cool if it did.

Поскольку ни один из моих бритвы были свободны, я не имею какой-либо я могу отправить вам.

If the above came anywhere close to "Since none of my razors were free, I don't have any to send you", then Google translate rocks.

    Best,
