Newbie Question
Has anyone learned anymore about a M.J. Higgins brand razor out of Sheffield? Are they good shavers? I am looking at picking one up as I like the Heavy WB look, but can't seem to find nearly anything on them. I appreciate any help that you fine gentlemen can provide.

Try a search (third from left at the top) on Higgins, there are a few hits. Honestly, I have no experience other than that any razor I've picked up that came from Sheffield has ended up as a good shaver. Got any pictures?

Don't have much info on M.J Higgins but I've definitely had more than half a dozen pass through my hands and they all performed exquisitely. In general you can't go wrong with any of the older vintage Sheffield steel.

I am really new to this and as you can guess Iraq doesn't have many fleamarkets where I can get that great find...Does the above look like it's usable or should I move on? I suppose my addiction is up and running as I couldn't wait to get home and hunt. I went straight to that dreaded ebay....

Well, she's on the way. $21.50 for a VINTAGE M.J. HIGGINS 3/4" STRAIGHT RAZOR- SHEFFIELD.

The razor looks completely usable from the description. It's hard to tell by the picture but I'd bet the edge is fine. Welcome to SRP and let us know how it is.

I was watching that razor as well! Congratulations on winning it. I want to get a bigger Sheffield wedge here pretty soon. Are you in the Military? I see you have Georgia as your location, but said you were in Iraq. Are you with the 3rd. I.D. or Battalion? If so, thank you for serving!!!

I am serving with "Rock of the Marne" (3rd ID), currently deployed to Iraq. I will soon come running home as I have a pregnant wife and 2 razors waiting for me! 3 times the reason for excitement! Wish me luck and I will post a pic of my hamburgered face.

It is an honor to have a serving soldier here with us at SRP. I'm glad you won the razor and don't forget to post pics of the new baby when he/she comes!
