    Default Kamisori Epilogue

Well guys I think enough time has passed now so I can officially say it's gone.

I won't speculate as to what happened since I don't know but to those that got a chance to use it I hope you enjoyed it and to those that didn't well, sorry about that.

    Maybe Lt. Kawasaki reclaimed it.

Was it lost in the mail, or did a member keep it?

That's quite disappointing. Let's hope that it was not the latter.

I'm sorry to say I've had the same experience--loaning out razors and never getting them back. Then again, my sister owes me quite a few books for the same reason and she denies ever borrowing them.:rant

I have a suggestion for dealing with this--use of a deposit. That is, in a loaning or round robin sort of situation, have each person PAY for the item in advance the person ahead of them in the rotation through PayPal. In order to discourage someone from pilfering the passed around item, the payment amount could be doubled. Upon safe return, the payment is refunded.

Let's say Joe The Loaner wants to sequentially loan out a razor to Tom, Dick, and Ralph. Tom sends payment to Joe The Loaner who in turn mails the razor to Tom. When Tom is done with razor, he notifies Dick who sends pay to Tom for the razor. Tom mails the razor to Dick. Tom now has been paid back for the money he paid to Joe the Loaner so Tom is in the clear.

Now consider the following alternate scenarios.

!. Dick uses the razor and, being a Dick, decides to keep it before having any contact with Ralph. Oh well, Dick paid for it and both Tom and Joe The Loaner have their money. Ralph never was contacted so he is not out anything expect the loss of opportunity to try the razor.

    2. Dick uses the razor and, being a Total Dick, tells Ralph to pay him for the razor, which he does, but Dick never sends it. Now only Ralph is out the price of the razor, but he can file a PayPal dispute for reimbursement from Dick.

    3. Dick uses the razor and when he is done with it, contacts Ralph, who pays Dick for the Razor. Dick goes against his nature and mails Ralph the razor. Now Joe The Loaner has his money, Tom has his money, and Dick has his money.

The circle is completed when Ralph contacts Joe The Loaner and tells him he's ready to return the razor. Joe The Loaner pays Ralph for his own razor's return and Ralph mails him his razor. Now all three borrowers have their money back and Joe The Loaner has his razor back.

All of this works as long as each mailing is done with tracking (and perhaps insurance) and with payments done with PayPal.

Sure there will be the cost of PayPal fees, but just say that's the price, in addition to postage, that you have to pay to get to try out the toys.

I am really sorry to hear that the Kamisori got lost.

It was one of the first threads I started following after joining this site.
I thought it told something about the good and friendly atmosphere in here.

Let's hope it just got lost..

Thanks for the effort anyway, a very nice gesture indeed!
