    Default Help Identifying this razor

I recently won an auction on eBay for two razors. One is a Durham and I've read enough to know that if I'm lucky I won't accidentally cut myself on it when I throw it away.

Anyway, the real thing I bid on was the other razor. I think it is in really good shape but haven't had much luck finding out anything about it.

I think there may be a mismatch between the razor and the box. The box has on it that it is 110 and the razor has 50. I hope I'm wrong.

The handle is black and it is in great shape. No cracks, open and closes easily, pins appear to be tight. Some water marks on blade but no rust that I could see. Then, and I don't know what I was thinking when I did this, I ran it lightly over the back of my hand and easily shaved off a small patch of hair.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Here is the link the SRP razor manufacturers database. You should be able to find something on that razor in there.

Dame Stoddard & Co, 1901-1930. Located in Boston.
This firm grew from Dame, Stoddard & Kendall.
They're still in business as Stoddard Inc.

Default Stoddards: Bit of Boston History

Stoddard's was a famous very old vendor of fine cutlery and sport fishing tackle formerly located at Temple Place, Boston. Their former down town Temple Place location is now a restaurant bearing the same name. The successor business can be seen as follows: Stoddards - Since 1800 - Stoddards Cutlery. They still sell cutlery including straight razors at their current suburban location. I know nothing of the quality of their old razor, but their web site has a bit about the history of the business. Given that they were/are a high end vendor, the razor should be good, if in good condition. I do not know about the box other than it appears to be an authentic stoddards box. The "Hub" trademark refers to Boston which is sometimes called the Hub.

I didn't have much luck searching that database. I'll try again later when I can focus on it instead of it and work at the same time.
