I'd like a minty, without restoration, 6/8 Otto Deutsch "Hans". The one with the fancy green scales that tend to cell rot. I'll take one without the cell rot please.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

An original 8/8 Henckels Friodur, square tip, smooth spine. Not one of the regrinds, as good as they are.

I'm currently fond of Torrey blades... have a pile. Don't have the right *one* yet.... I'm looking though.
I think a 6/8 or 7/8th, 1/4 hollow to near wedge with a barbers notch would do...

I like the older Friodurs but with a round point, like this one:

That's actually a good question and I don't really know.
Perhaps rather than a particular make of razor, a razor used by a great historical figure. Imagine being able to shave with an antique straight that was own and used by George Washington.

I'd have to say Bengall for me. I don't know why but there's something about them that I really admire. For me they are simple, plain, humble, easy to hone, reliable and always give me a great shave.
My favourites are 6/8 square point and 6/8 round point. One day I will get a 7/8.
And look what arrived for me today (Thanks Marty, it really is in nearly mint condition):I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

Thanked: 1195I'd love to get my hands on a Mappin & Webb and a Puma. It seems to be an uphill battle for me; the former are fairly rare, and the latter sell very quickly when posted in the classifieds.

Thanked: 13234See that question just has too many facets to it
If I was picking for the best shaver it would be the Mystical Magical Mack
But heck that is only a 4/8 razor, so if I had to keep only one razor how long could that little tiny piece of steel last????
So on the practicality issue, I would have to pick an 8/8 as it would last a lifetime..
So it would probably be my "Night Stalker" #14 Filarmonica Doble Temple or something very close to that
See just to many variables to narrow it down to just one, so I guess after thinking it through I am keeping them all
