    Default Modern Razor Advise

I'm now up to 6 vintage razors and two Shavettes-a modern one and a vintage on. I'd like a modern straight to add to my arsenal. Any suggestions?
I'd like to keep it under $200.

Under $200 for a new razor.... I think there are only a few TI's or Dovo's that fit that range, but I could be wrong. Personally, I'd go with a Dovo. Take a look at the Prima Klang.

Revisor has a great reputation on the German language forums, and some members enjoy them on this forum.

They seem to be high-quality and reasonably priced. I have spoken with the CEO of the company, and he is great to deal with. The prices include the VAT, which you won't pay if you live outside of the EU. Shipping will be somewhat high though - maybe $15 - $17.

If you are looking for a cheaper option, the superior shave has some honed Dovo's for $66 and un-honed for $61. As far as I have seen, this is the best value out there.

    Dovo Straight Razors

I do have to say that I am partial to the Revisor's though.

Good Luck, good hunting, and happy shopping. Let us know what you get.

Why not get New Old Stock which by definition is new. Show All Razors : Shaving Shop - luxury classic wet shaving products - straight razors
    I like the Ottos.

And this Wacker is a sweet razor for under 200 bucks - these are modern day production http://shavingshop.com/index.php?ite...6category%3D43

Or do you want current manufacture new when you say modern?
If so I'd take Holli's advice and get a Dovo Prima Klang. I hear they're superb.

I know what I'd go for, but it's down to personal choice and very subjective. That's what I say every time I advise on these what to choose threads.

It depends on how fancy you want your razor to be. For under $200 I'd say go for a Dovo or a Boker. You can get a low end TI in that price range, but personally I'd save to get one of their nicer models down the road.

+1 here. I have a Dovo and Revisor. Either one would get my vote. They are superb razors.

Superior Shave has the Dovo Bergischer Lowe for $215 posted and honed.

If you can't squeeze to that, they have the Dovo #1055865 for $182.50 posted and honed.

The only modern razor I can vouch for is the Dovo 1516 - that's the tortoiseshell one. I think a lot of us have these, and that popularity is unsurprising given the price and the way Dovo seem to have got everything just about right in this case. Handling in particular is very good indeed, for stropping as well as shaving. A good workhorse.
