    Default Ernst Melchior

    I picked up a str8 at a consignment place. I am relatively new at this so I have never heard of a "Ernst Melchior". This is on the box. The razor has Sheffield on the tang.

    Anybody heard of this?

    I don't know arout the Ernest but melchior is a well known name in vintage razors. I suspect they were a barber supply outfit and probably did not make the razor.

    I'm sure one of our Wiki experts will nail it though.

    I have seen only one Melch' and that is the one that was floating around on the bay forever and ever, being passed from person to person as a "straight" but was actually a microtome.
    Which, by the way, took a great edge, and gives me just fine shaves! (as long as you treat it like a kimasori)
