Thread: New razor

Got myself a new razor. A nice NOS King Pelican, Kamisori Type. Japanese made, and a near wedge. Interestingly this has 14 stamped on the tang, like Fillies and large Solingen square pointed blades.

I received it in NOS condition, although the factory edge didn't hone up as easily as a Solingen which I normally take straight to the Escher with slurry and have zero problems with. Maybe the grind, maybe the steel, perhaps both who knows. 30 laps on the Nani 3K, 50 on a white Tam, 30 on the 8K Nani and then on to the Escher for about another 40 or so diluting from a light slurry. A final 20 on the Charnley finished her off. I still wasn't happy, so back to the 8K and again. This time it was great.

The shave was awesome. This is razor is bad boy business. A delightfull BBS, and I still think I can improve the edge a little. If you have the chance to get one of these, snag it. They do have a rather short edge compared to a Western blade, but it didn't bother me what so ever. Nice to use a wedge for a change! And the plastic scales are like a cross between imitation pearl and mock ivory. I quite like them.

And of course some porn, including my most recent SOTD, although the quality of the shots is terrible. I need to stop using my blackberry and get a camera. I know it would make all the difference.

I made an offer on ebay to a former member of SRP. I'm quite pleased as they normally retail for a fair bit more.
